Some chairs announce themselves. The Xara prefers to earn its place over time. Designed by Francesco Feliziani, this dining chair combines honest materials with careful craftsmanship—high-grade plywood wrapped in premium A-grade ash veneer creates gentle curves that stay light and resilient. The contoured seat cradles you through long meals while the floating backrest, reclined to 100 degrees, supports a relaxed natural posture. Solid walnut-stained legs and a 25mm frame provide stability, with generously rounded edges that invite touch and exposed ply edges that reveal the chair's construction. The walnut finish draws grain into warm, layered mid-brown tones protected by a satin topcoat that preserves the wood's tactile quality. Understated yet distinctive, the Xara suits any dining table—order two for intimate settings or a full set for cohesive elegance.

Materials and finishes

Finish: Walnut stain, satin protective topcoat

Designed by Francesco Feliziani. Seat and back are a single 12 mm formed plywood shell in A-grade ash veneer stained to a walnut finish, with the ply edge left exposed as a design detail. Legs and frame are solid ash — 25 mm frame, 90 × 90 mm leg section with 15 mm radiused edges.

The backrest reclines at 100 degrees rather than sitting vertical, which is what makes it comfortable to sit in through a long meal.

Care and warranty
Everyday cleaning. Wipe with a soft, dry or very slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking the timber, and never leave water sitting on the surface.
Spills. Wipe up straight away and dry the area. Veneered and solid timber can both mark if liquid is left to sit, particularly wine, oil or anything acidic.
What to avoid. Skip household sprays, all-purpose cleaners, solvents, bleach and anything abrasive, as these can dull the satin topcoat and lift the walnut stain over time.
Sunlight and heat. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can shift the tone of any stained timber, and away from heaters and ducted vents.
Humidity. Keep the room reasonably stable and avoid extremes of damp or very dry air. Sudden swings cause problems, not normal household conditions.
Occasional conditioning (optional). Once or twice a year you can revive the finish with a quality furniture wax or stained-timber-safe polish. Test on the underside of the seat first, apply thinly and buff off fully.
Protecting the finish. Lift the chair rather than dragging it. If you add felt pads, check them occasionally as grit can lodge underneath and scratch flooring.
Structural care. Every few months, check the leg fixings and re-tighten by hand if needed.

A considered chair for dining rooms and living spaces.

With warm wood tones and considered proportions, every piece in the collection is designed to look great, feel even better, and become part of your home’s story for years to come.

What is the Xara Dining Chair made from?

The seat and back are formed plywood shells finished in premium A-grade ash veneer, and the legs and frame are solid ash. It is finished with a clear natural coat and a protective satin topcoat.

What does the natural finish look like?

It keeps the ash close to its raw state, a pale, creamy tone with fine, straight grain. The clear satin coat protects the surface without adding colour or yellowing the timber.

Why plywood for the seat and back?

Formed plywood lets the seat and backrest hold their sculpted curves while staying light and highly resistant to movement. It is a considered engineering choice, wrapped in the same A-grade ash veneer as the rest of the chair, with the layered edge left exposed as a design detail.

Who designed it?

The Xara was designed by Francesco Feliziani.

Our studio space is open by appointment. Come see our products up close, explore the details, and chat about your project. Whether you need styling advice or want to discuss your ideas, we’re here to help. Book your visit today.

Does the chair require assembly?

Minimal assembly only. The legs attach on arrival via threaded inserts and timber dowels, and the tools are included. Most people have it ready in a few minutes.

Can I order a matching set?

Yes. The Xara is designed to work beautifully in pairs or as a full set, with consistent tone and finish across every chair.

Is this solid walnut?

No, and we are upfront about that. It is ash, stained to a warm walnut tone. You get genuine walnut colour and grain character across a strong ash frame and veneered shells, at a more accessible price than solid walnut, with better resistance to warping over time.

Value for money and longevity — built to last for years rather than seasons, aligning with Seek & Ramble’s “furniture for life” philosophy.
